Would you rather your were bitter enemies of dwarves? Our wild brothers gave us good sport and honored tus with their deaths on our arrows, There we first learned the way of the forest and how to share the forest's bounty with all of its peoples.
We were content. In our foolishness, we welcomed them with open arms. But the men of Blackmoor sold more than goods. They tumed the forests of Evergrun into foulness. The wisest amongst us fled far from those foul arts, seeking lands un- tainted by the vileness of Blackmoor — and by that was the elven race saved. Yee even there was the blasphemy of Blackmoor to be felt.
Undaunted by the punishment of the gods, falsely wise elves of chac place wished to continue practice of those vile atts which had brought Evergeun low. Isundal, wisest of our forebears, would not hear them.

Now it came to pass that others were jealous of our new forest. Our archers knew their matks and the new forest betrayed the invaders at every step. Our atmies are feated evetywhete. Since the Sylvan Realm was stolen from elven dominion, wwe are now the true home of the elves of the world. The elves and Blackmoor found each otherat the height of their cultures. During the yeats of Blackmoor's splen- dor, many elves migrated to that area and points around i.
Those elves tried tech nology and grew great at it, particularly the elves who inhabited the area now known as the Broken Lands, The elves of Evergrun also embraced technology, abandoned their forest ways, and learned how to increase their none- too-fertile population growth — all much to the detriment of their former sylvan way of life.
The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.
For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive. Original electronic format These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable.
Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality. Steve Perrin Anders Swenson. More specifically, it follows the style laid out by Known World line developer Bruce Heard in GAZ3: "The Principalities of Glantri" by providing those details as part of a larger page book. Though mostly for GMs, "The Elves of Alfheim" also included a nice 8-page pullout for players, including rules for creating elves.
Heard says he asked Perrin some questions about the book, particularly whether the capital should be less "forest-oriented", but that he wasn't unhappy with the results.
A History of Elves. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings They were a popular race or class in early games, but they didn't appear as the main focus of any books until the 80s. While there were thus several elf RPG books out by the time TSR got into the game in , they definitely made up for lost time! Expanding the Known World. However, Alfheim had already received a surprising amount of support.
From this basis, the authors created another detailed part of the Known World. One of their biggest challenges was figuring out why there was a forest right next to a desert, in an area surrounded by mountains and cut off from the sea. They decided the answer was a curse which stole the fertility of Ylaruam and gave it to Alfheim.
For the actual elves, Perrin and Swenson devised several different tribes, one of which was similar to the barbarians of Elfquest. They also ruled out half-elves. Their original explanation for this was somewhat scientific, but Heard changed it to fantasy reasoning.
Future History. About the Creators. Perrin is best known for his authorship of Chaosium's Runequest , but probably was selected as an elf author because of Elfquest He authored a few Forgotten Realms books around the same time, but afterward largely brought his freelancing work to an end.
